The Prospector – Gold is built for those who follow their own trail, the explorers, craftsmen, and everyday mountain men who put real miles on the pieces they wear. Its silhouette nods to vintage trucker jackets, but every line, curve, and texture carries our own frontier spirit, shaped through full-grain leather that grows richer with every season.

Every hide is selected for its natural character: grain, markings and all, so the journey shows, not hides. Jason’s 10+ years in leathercraft give him the experience to recognize true quality, evaluate the workmanship, and ensure each jacket meets the standards of a leatherworker, not just a clothing label. We use only full-grain leather, so the story you see is the one the leather was born with. As it breaks in, it holds the marks of your journey, deepening into a patina that becomes uniquely yours. 

Each jacket begins with purpose and ends with craftsmanship. In our partner workshop in Pakistan, artisans who have spent a lifetime at the bench shape every panel by hand, one stitch, one seam, one detail at a time. We oversee the process from start to finish, making sure every piece reflects the honesty, durability, and integrity required to carry the Mountain & Hide Co. name.

Inside, a warm buffalo-check lining pays tribute to the back-country of British Columbia, where our designs are born. Outside, subtle western lines, hand-cut pockets, and custom hardware strike a balance between refined structure and raw, lived-in grit. Western-style chest-pocket stitching brings character to the design, a small nod to the rivers, roots, and rugged terrain that inspire our craftsmanship.

We build in small batches, never mass-produced. Every jacket is photographed, measured, and checked by hand before shipping. You receive exactly the piece you see, nothing hidden, nothing dressed up.

Care Guide

The Prospector – Gold is semi veg tan/Chrome tan full grain leather, protective waxes applied by hand. This creates water resistance and allows the leather to age with integrity.

To care for it:

• Avoid alcohol-based products (hand sanitizer, cologne, cleaning sprays).

• If exposure happens, allow the leather to rest; recondition if needed.

• Store in a cool, dry space away from direct heat.
